We’re just weeks away from our first guests departing our fabulous new location, Aldermaston Marina.

With its close proximity to London, this is a great addition to our directory giving Canaltime guests even more variety and choice.

For a nice leisurely week, why not try a trip to Windsor and back. This can be comfortably achieved in 7 days with only 42 locks in total. The historic market town of Reading makes a great place to stop on route.  Windsor has attractions to suit all ages. Why not try the hop-on, hop-off open bus tour, a fantastic way to see this famous town?  Windsor Great Park and Castle are a must.  Or for younger guests, Legoland is just 2 miles from the town centre.

A similarly relaxed week could be spent heading north to Oxford. Try one of the many walking tours available (some are free).  Film fans, do a little research and you’ll discover that many scenes from Harry Potter were filmed in the city.  See how many you can find!

If you’re planning a short break, then Henley-on-Thames comes highly recommended.  It is one of the most beautiful towns in England and voted by The Times as one of the best places to live in the English countryside! Famous for its Royal Regatta, Henley is also known as a town of Festivals, including the Henley Festival, Henley Youth Festival, Eat! Food Festival and Thames Traditional Boat Festival to name just a few.

Henley-on-Thames is also seen on TV screens around the world as one of the locations for the classic show Midsomer Murders (known as Barnaby in much of the world).

Another short break, but this time heading West, is the idyllic market town of Newbury. Surrounded by stunning countryside and with many independent shops, cafes and restaurants, Newbury is a great place for a relaxing break… and for your ultimate convenience, the Kennet and Avon canal passes right through the very heart of the town!
